Over the years, we have created an untold number of invitations for customers however; this one I will always remember.
The customer ordered our top secret mission surprise party invitations (see them here). The details to be printed had no mention of what the event was, the invitation directed people to meet in a car park where they would see a sign to follow an agent who would direct them to their “mission”. The instructions also stated that it was imperative guests should be on time and they were to be dressed in smart/formal attire.
So what was the event?
The customer let us know that the secret mission was going to be their wedding ceremony and only a very few number of guests were aware they attending a wedding. Wow, what a surprise!
I found this order to be exciting and intriguing; leading to many questions I would love to have asked the customer. The big question being what made you decide to keep your wedding a secret?
Now I have a theory to this question, I got married abroad and a big factor to us making the decision to go away and get married on our own with no guests was due to us having big families with too many budding bridesmaids, pageboys, ushers and opinions! We felt that the day was about our commitment to each other and we wanted to keep it to ourselves. So, perhaps the couple wanted to plan their perfect day without any interventions but still wanted to share it with their families and friends.
I don’t suppose I will ever know what inspired them to keep their plans private but I hope they managed to keep it a secret and all the guests enjoyed their top-secret mission, it would certainly give them something extra to remember their special day.
I have contacted the customer to find out how the wedding went, watch this space……..
